CO2 fire extinguisher
Raise the alarm first. Then pull the pin, get close, hold by the handle and spray at the fire. Leave the room afterwards.
-
Shout "Fire!" and call 112 or press the fire alarm button.
-
Pull the safety pin.
-
Hold the horn only by its handle, never by the cone.
The gas gets as cold as minus 78 degrees and causes frostbite.
-
Move to 1 to 2 metres and spray short bursts at the fire.
-
Then leave the room and have it ventilated.
CO2 displaces oxygen. In small rooms there is a risk of suffocation.
Caution
- CO2 hardly cools. Paper, wood or upholstery can reignite, then use the foam extinguisher.
- With electrical equipment switch off the power if it is safe. Keep at least 1 metre away from equipment up to 1000 volts.
- Never spray at people.
For first aiders and fire wardens
- Only let people back into the room after thorough ventilation.
