Prymos fire extinguisher (foam)

Here: Corridor west staircase

Raise the alarm first. Then twist and pull the pin, aim at the base of the fire from 1 to 1.5 metres, squeeze the lever.

  1. Shout "Fire!" and call 112 or press the fire alarm button.

  2. Twist the safety pin until the seal breaks, then pull it out.

  3. Hold the hose at the nozzle and aim at the base of the fire from 1 to 1.5 metres.

  4. Squeeze the lever. Aim at the base of the fire, not at the flames.

  5. Once the fire is out, keep emptying the extinguisher so it does not flare up again.

  6. If it does not get smaller or smoke comes towards you, get out and close the door.

Caution

  • Not for burning fat or oil. Use the fat fire extinguisher for that.
  • Keep at least 1 metre away from electrical equipment up to 1000 volts.
  • Do not hang used extinguishers back up, report them.

For first aiders and fire wardens

  • Use several extinguishers at the same time if possible, not one after another.
  • After extinguishing watch for re-ignition and brief the fire brigade.
