Defibrillator (AED)
Switch the AED on and follow its instructions. Keep pushing on the chest until it is ready.
-
Has 112 been called? If not, do it now on speaker.
-
Open the AED and switch it on.
Some devices start when you open the lid. The device talks to you.
-
Bare the chest and stick on the pads as shown on the picture.
One below the right collarbone, one on the left side below the armpit. A second person keeps pushing meanwhile.
-
Nobody touches the person during analysis and shock.
-
If the AED says "shock", everyone stand clear, then press the flashing button.
Fully automatic devices deliver the shock by themselves.
-
Then keep pushing straight away until the AED analyses again.
Caution
- Leave the pads on even if the person breathes again. Do not switch the AED off.
For first aiders and fire wardens
- Do not put the AED back after use. Have pads and battery replaced and report the incident.
